When people subscribe to your blog they are saying “I like your content and I’d like to see more”. Most people will simply add these people to a list and send them notifications whenever they have new content to share. However, in this video I’m going to show you how you can be giving more value to your subscribers.

By sending them your TOP content first they will see the best you have to offer before they get your regular stream of weekly/monthly emails.

Video Transcript:

Hey, I’m Matt Byrom. I’m out seeing a client in Barcelona so I thought I’d record this video out in the sun! It’s going to be a quick tip, something I discussed with Hana Abaza in episode 8 of my podcast called the Marketing Strategies Podcast. The episode will be released tomorrow April 11th so please remember to check it out.

So, if you’re like most people you’ll have a subscribe box on your blog. And, if you’re like most people when someone new subscribes you’ll be add them to a list and send them an email when you have new content to share. Seems straightforward.

BUT this experience can be dramatically improved for the person who signs up.

New Blog Subscriber Email Sequence

When someone new subscribes to your blog, instead of adding them straight to the list you send new content notifications to, send this person a custom email sequence including some of your TOP CONTENT first.

This is a simple thing to do but it means new blog subscribers see some of your best content FIRST before they see the content you release weekly or monthly.

Making this change will improve the experience for your new subscribers as they’ll receive some of your most useful content first. And hopefully this will build trust and loyalty early in their journey with your brand.

Segmentation

A great way to improve this further is by segmenting new subscribers as they enter your list.

For example you could ask them what topics they’re interested in so you can send them the most relevant content based on their ACTUAL interests.

This is all about making the user experience as good as it can be. And the more relevant and personal your communication is, the better the experience will be for each person.

I hope you found this useful. If I can be of any further help please comment below or please email me here.
